Choosing Universities

This is probably the most important decision you will feel you have taken in all your life. It shouldn't be. And it isn't. But still, it's good to keep some of these things in mind:

  • Location: is it near anyone you know? Do you see yourself living there for at least 4 years? Are you cool with that? Will you survive?!
  • Budget: set up a budget with your parents, this way you know what pricey over my ass schools you can not spend time and money sending in your application/transcripts.
  • Programs: make sure its something YOU are interested in. Who cares what others think about Nursing? You go for it! You'll still be a man... right? Parents tend to push their children into the path they want them to... beware of this.
  • Student Life: make sure you know there is at least some party or interesting club that happens in campus. You don't want to be sitting alone in your dorm, rocking yourself back and forth with your arms wrapped around your knees in your closet. WHAT?! Unless you're into that stuff... in that case umm travel the world.
  • ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD: have you considered this? The University you attend whether its an Ivy or a Poison doesn't matter! Life goes on. It always has and always will... until your time comes and you die. I didn't mean to sound pessimistic. :) Better?
These are the most important points I have learned during my experience... if you haven't seen the film "An Education" you totally should. It's an awesome movie that makes you question why the hell you're going to University.
